This is why we all come to Tahoe. Not the lacrosse. But to swim in God’s waterpark — the Yuba River. My boy, Julian (above), is lucky enough to have spent part of his life in the area, and knows how to get to this off-the-map spot. Natural waterslides, rock jumping, and crystal clear waters awaited us.
A group of us all stayed at Julian’s parents house in nearby Grass Valley and after a night spent in the teepee under the star-filled heavens we headed out to the Yuba.
The first couple photos are all from Grass Valley on the first night, and Julian’s parent’s beautiful beautiful property. Many thanks to Rebecca and Coulter for letting us rowdy boys stay there.

Sunset on our first night outside Grass Valley.
Of course we brought the lawn games out.

That’s Matty silhouetted against the teepee.

Yuba time. To get there we all piled in the back of a pick-up truck and rambled down a dusty and bumpy dirt road.
The first jump.
Many thanks to Steve Pitre for taking these next three photos of the crew. That’s me, second from the right, in the orange shorts. Steve is a Brooklyn based videographer/photographer honeymooning out west. You can check out Steve’s website and his work here.
