Jpop04:  Michelle I feel like an idiot saying this online

Jpop04: but I like you

Michelle464:  i like you too

Jpop04:  as more than a friend?

Jpop04:  because that is what I am saying

Michelle464:  yes

Although I imagine there was more to their relationship at the time than just this AIM conversation (posted on their guestbook table), it’s crazy to think how something so small could grow from high school, through college, living in different countries and graduation, to marriage.

I feel like you just never know what anything means until you’re there.

Halfway in between that instant message and her wedding day, I met Michelle on a study abroad program in Querétaro, Mexico.  While drinking tequila and climbing in trees I got to hear all about her life back home, including James.  Return to school, and I meet James, awesome guy, fast forward four more years and I’m shooting their wedding.

That’s what I’m saying.  You never know what anything means until you’re there.  If you would have told me four years ago, my first time in Mexico, that I would later become a destination wedding photographer living in Mexico I probably would have laughed my paloma onto your face (tequila and squirt yummm).

I imagine that if you had told high-school-age Michelle and James after the above AIM that eight years from now you two will be married.  I imagine the same thing might have happened, just instead of tequila, maybe diet coke or something…capri sun?

It was such a pleasure to shoot your wedding guys.  You two are awesome and you have awesome friends, friends I’m friends with and haven’t seen in a long time!  Thanks and enjoy the photos!

Michelle and James rented an old school photo booth with props for the reception.
