My last Mexico destination wedding of the spring was a good one! After the surprise first rain of my previous Las Caletas wedding the rain was to be expected on the beach. The rain cleared up just enough prior to the start to have the wonderful ceremony in the sand, with just a few scattered umbrellas in the crowd. And by sunset, the light was great!
The Las Caletas area and the whole south bay of Puerto Vallarta is just beautiful, with scraggly jungle mountains, descending down to isolated beaches and friendly swimming waters. I’m already missing it! I can’t wait until mid-October when I start flying back down for more destination weddings, friends, and good food.
I lit off my first flying lantern at this wedding. Many thanks to those who shared with me! It’s fun seeing all of these multi-colored lanterns reflecting off the water as they rise north toward the city. I loved seeing the joy on everyone’s faces when they start to take off, and rise slowly and slowly…is it gonna make it???…Yes! A super celebration and the end to an amazing night on the beach.
